2016 Social Entrepreneurship Institute
November 11-13, 2016
Friday: Africana Studies & Research Center at Cornell
Saturday & Sunday: The Greater Ithaca Activities Center
The theme for this year's Institute was "Creating Healthy and Vibrant Communities Through Our Social Ventures." The Institute featured tools that are essential to the success of a social venture, a keynote talk, presentations with inspiring and innovative social entrepreneurs, one-on-one coaching from experience entrepreneurs, and a field trip to a local incubator and a co-working space.
Keynote speaker Theresa Bowick
Theresa is the captain of Conkey Cruisers, which uses bicycling to help neighbors inspire neighbors to stay active, make healthy food choices, decrease obesity rates, and create a positive image of their neighborhood. The organization uses innovative, evidence-based practices to achieve significant and measurable impact on health disparities in Rochester, NY.
This year, attendees were joined by teens from Rochester who led a special Teen Social Entrepreneurship track on Sunday, November 13.
